Hiking in Raurisertal

In the Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region there are around 120 alpine pastures where over 7,000 Pinzgau cattle graze and hikers are catered for and pampered. When the alpine dairymen move into their huts at the beginning of June, the alpine summer returns to the country: with its warm sunny days, the fine Pinzgau delicacies, the festivals and long evenings under a starry sky that seems incredibly close at over 1,000 metres above sea level.

Hohe Tauern National Park...

one of the last untouched landscapes in the heart of Europe. Did you know that the Hohe Tauern would already be developed and exploited elsewhere due to the wealth of glaciers, water and mineral resources? That precisely for this reason, the Hohe Tauern National Park was created as a large protected area of approx. 1,800 km² with a special responsibility for nature? Experience and enjoy the peculiar, special and new things in the National Park! Hike with open eyes and ears through the cultural and primal land! Meet the wonders of nature on a large and small scale!

Take your time, time for patient observation, time for yourself.

I know only one way to travel more comfortably than on horseback, and that is on foot. You set off when you want, you pause at will, you make as much and as little movement as you like. One observes the whole country, one turns to the right and to the left, one examines everything that pleases one, one stops at all viewpoints.
